On February 4-5, a practical seminar "Testing of asphalt concrete and bitumen according to European methods" was held in Stuttgart (Germany).
The seminar was held in the laboratory of the IBQ Research Institute (Institut fur Baustoff – Qualitatssicherung GmbH). This technology center is engaged in research and testing in the field of production and study of asphalt concrete road surfaces, construction technologies, and is also a research platform for the creation of new materials and mixtures.
The organizers prepared theoretical and practical sessions, a round table with independent experts of the IBQ testing laboratory, provided participants with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the production process of using the InfraTest Prüftechnik GmbH automatic asphalt analyzer to assess the content of bitumen binder, as well as with tests of asphalt concrete using the SuperPave method. During one of the sessions, standard and "advanced" bitumen tests were considered.
Express quality control devices for road construction materials, modern laboratory equipment, additives for production were presented at the seminar crushed-mastic asphalt concrete (SHMA) and porous-mastic asphalt concrete (PMA).
The seminar was attended by employees of the FAA "ROSDORNIA": Director of Science Andrey Chvanov, Director of Branch Development Viktor Alferov, Head of the Laboratory Support Department of the BCC Sergey Stuk, Head of the Innovation and R&D Department of the BCC Elena Kashevskaya, Head of the special department Sergey Izmalkov.
Confirming the practical value of participating in this seminar and getting acquainted with the experience of working with asphalt concrete mixtures in Germany, the seminar participants noted that in Germany they are just switching to a new system for designing asphalt concrete mixtures and the use of the SuperPave system has not yet been widely used.
