ROSDORNIA experts are conducting a scientific study in the Perm Region to determine the optimal timing of the introduction of restrictions for the passage of heavy trucks. The findings of scientists will allow us to most accurately determine the periods when the roads of the region are most susceptible to destruction. The developed methodology can later be adapted to other regions of Russia.
Observation posts were created for the study on the regional roads Polazna – Chusovaya, Kukushtan – Tchaikovsky and Solikamsk – Krasnovishersk. At these sites, measuring equipment has been installed in the roadbed, which is continuously working on data collection. Humidity, temperature and voltage sensors are installed, as well as other equipment. All this makes it possible to determine the periods of decrease and increase in the strength of road structures, taking into account seasonality.

The specialists of the scientific institute will also receive data on the depth of freezing of the ground of the roadbed in the region – in the future they will help to more accurately determine the possibility of heavy trucks in winter. Currently, work is underway to collect and analyze data that will help in the development of forecasting methods.
