Professionalism and loyalty to the chosen profession
The Department of Research and Technical Expertise of asphalt concrete performance characteristics at the Federal State Enterprise "ROSDORNIA" is headed by a recognized professional in his field, Candidate of Technical Sciences, and also a beautiful, charming woman – Svetlana Polyakova, who recently celebrated her anniversary.
After giving her a break from the numerous congratulations of colleagues from all over Russia, we asked her a few questions.
- Your biography is firmly connected with the road industry. Why? What was the reason for choosing such a profession?
- Perhaps, my parents had a great influence on me. Mom is a chemist, candidate of technical sciences, who has worked in the road industry for more than 20 years, dad is also a chemist, Doctor of Sciences, who headed the department of the university. Having graduated from the Alma-Ata Road Construction Institute with a degree in Highways, I came to Moscow, passed the full-time postgraduate exams at the Moscow Automobile and Road Institute (MADI) and defended my dissertation four years later.
You know, it was a real school of life. I was all alone in Moscow, without parents, relatives, lived in a hostel. To fortunately, my scientific supervisors were real masters, world–class authorities – Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Igor Vasilyevich Korolev, and after his death - Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Nikolai Vasilyevich Gorelyshev. Largely thanks to their support and guidance, I became a specialist. They are no longer alive, but we still communicate with colleagues, their former graduate students.
- After defending your PhD, you were in charge of the monitoring department of road construction materials at FSUE "Rosdortehnologiya". With your participation, a quality control system for road construction materials used on the federal highway network has been created.
- Yes, under the leadership of Nikolai Viktorovich Bystrov, we actually started from scratch, built a system. I had to travel a lot on business trips, but I remember this time with warmth. Well, after that I was invited to join the team of ROSDORNIA.
Since 2015, Svetlana Polyakova has been heading the Department of Research and Technical Expertise of the performance characteristics of asphalt concrete.
The professional community knows her as a highly qualified specialist in the field of laboratory provision of road facilities, developer of standards of organizations, methodological recommendations, technological regulations, documents for laboratory accreditation and product certification.
Practical achievements are confirmed by numerous scientific papers. There are more than 20 scientific papers on her personal bookshelf. Svetlana Vladlenovna is the author of five patents in the field of road–building materials and technologies, including polymer-bitumen binders, asphalt concrete mixtures and asphalt concrete, a hydrodynamic method for producing bitumen binder for road surfaces, fiber fiber additives, dispersed-reinforced asphalt concrete, crushed stone materials, laboratory quality control, etc.
By her example, she shows that hard work, a constant desire to develop, professionalism, attention to every detail lead to significant results in the chosen business.
