The use of methods of volumetric and functional design of asphalt concrete mixtures should significantly increase the time between repairs.

Recall that the system of volumetric functional design is one of the priority new and best technologies for accelerated implementation within the framework of the national project "Safe and high–quality Highways". Features of the system application are one of the main topics of training seminars for customers and contractors, which are conducted in the regions by the FAA "ROSDORNII".

In the Kursk region, the training included the selection of asphalt concrete mix compositions. As a result, specialists of the road laboratory of the OKU "Committee of Highways of the Kursk region" conducted more than 200 batches of test trains. The quality of the raw materials was taken into account, the bitumen binder was selected based on the climatic conditions of the region. The average minimum and maximum air temperature indicators for the last 20 years were taken as a basis.

"The selected recipe is sent to the asphalt plant, where it takes place testing. If necessary, the composition is adjusted. There are 18 asphalt concrete mix production plants in the Kursk Region, and each one needs to make an actual adaptation of the composition," said Andrey Koptev, head of the construction laboratory Department of the Kursk Region Committee of Highways. — It is worth noting that road builders use local materials when compiling the composition. At the moment, a lot of work is underway to cooperate with the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant to establish the quality of the material according to the new GOST standards."

A section of Narodnaya Street with a length of 100 meters was chosen as a trial. According to the Committee of Highways of the Kursk region, multi-level control is carried out over the production of works. Specialists of the road laboratory on the spot monitor the temperature regime and the density of the laid canvas. The use of the new technology will be as effective as possible only if the requirements of the system are strictly followed at all stages, including at the laying stage.

We should add that this year in the Kursk region, within the framework of NP "BKAD", it is planned to repair more than 77 with the use of a system of volumetric and functional design kilometers of highways. The FAA "ROSDORNII" will conduct selective monitoring of the quality of road works.
