The new asphalt was tested: federal experts are conducting an audit of the quality of road works on the Secretarka-Haze road

A section of road in the Orenburg region is being overhauled with the use of advanced technologies

On August 11 and 12, experts from the Orenburg branch of the Russian Road Research Institute conducted a field trip as part of monitoring the quality of road works at the facility in the pilot region for the introduction of new technologies. Recall that the Orenburg region is actively implementing the method of volumetric and functional design, as well as the technology of cold regeneration of layers of pavement. All this is within the framework of the national project "Safe and high–quality highways".

Experts of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" as an Industry-wide competence Center also conduct an audit of the quality of road works within the framework of the national project. Monitoring is carried out at all stages of road construction, and auditors on the roads of Orenburg region – not for the first time. The second stage of monitoring has come – experts have taken samples of the coating to test them in the laboratory.

Experts visited the site of major repairs of the Secretarka – Dymka highway in the Orenburg region. This is a significant object for the region, in particular for residents of the Northern district, working at local enterprises of large agroholding.

This year it is planned to start construction of the second livestock complex in the village of Mordovo-Dobrino. The overhaul of 16 kilometers of the road connecting the villages of Sekretarka and Dymka should improve the transport accessibility of enterprises for employees of the complex.

Work on this section is carried out using two priority technologies at once (technologies that significantly extend the service life of the road):

Cold regeneration of pavement layers. Uniform grinding and mixing of the structural layers of the old pavement was carried out with the addition of a combined binder – cement and bitumen emulsion.

This technology makes it possible to obtain a homogeneous material with improved characteristics that forms the base layer. The economic effect is also achieved by the fact that the materials available in the old road clothes are reused.

The system of volumetric and functional design of asphalt concrete mixtures. This technology allows not only to choose the grain composition, but also to take into account how this grain composition is formed in the mixture, how many air voids there are and what volume the density of the mixture. When designing asphalt concrete, the performance characteristics of the mixture are evaluated according to the methodology, and the climatic conditions of asphalt concrete operation are also taken into account.

At the same time, the contract includes the subsequent maintenance of the site (up to 37 +400 km). The works are performed by "Orenburgremdorstroy".

By the time the auditors arrived at the facility, the work on the restoration of the pavement by the method of cold regeneration by a recycler with reinforcement with a combined binder had already been completely completed. The bottom layer of the coating is also arranged. Work is underway to strengthen culverts, the top layer of asphalt concrete coating SP-11 is being installed according to the volumetric and functional design system, 2500 meters have already been laid.

Experts took samples of asphalt concrete mix at the Abdulinsky DU plant, also took cores from the lower and upper layers of the coating for subsequent testing in the laboratory.

The executive documentation and compliance with the work production technology were checked, the geometric parameters of the road surface were evaluated. The auditors did not reveal any comments on the maintenance of documentation. Experts also found that the thickness, width of the coating and the transverse slope correspond to the design indications.

Recommendations were given on the technology of laying the top layer, which the contractor applied immediately.

Earlier, the audit within the first (preliminary) stage of monitoring the quality of road works was conducted by the Volgograd branch of the FAA "ROSDORNII". No defects were identified.
