Overhaul of the bridge in David-Gorodok

Belta By, 09.03.2022

The planned overhaul of the bridge across Lake Sezhka has begun in David-Gorodok, BelTA learned from the Stolinsky district executive committee.

The bridge over Lake Sezhka in David-Gorodok is located on the P88 road, which connects Zhitkovichi and the border of Ukraine (Verkhny Terebezhov) and is the city's main street. The structure with a length of about 100 m and a width of 9 m was erected in 1977. Three years ago, specialists of the BeldorNIA branch bridge Laboratory of the Ministry of Transport and Communications conducted a survey of the bridge and concluded that it requires priority repair. Defects were identified that reduce the carrying capacity and durability of the structure, the safety of traffic and pedestrians on it.

The customer of the construction was the Brest Regional Department of Capital Construction, the general contractor was JSC Mostostroy. The cost of the work is estimated at more than 2.6 million Belarusian rubles. Financing is carried out at the expense of the regional budget. The repair is planned to be completed in the second half of the year.

During the reconstruction of the structure, employees of the Bridge Building Department No. 3 branch will have to completely disassemble the bridge bed and replace it with monolithic slabs, repair or completely replace the supports and beams of superstructures that have served their time. Barrier and railing fences will appear on the renovated bridge and approaches to it, the pavement covering will be made of cast asphalt concrete.

Traffic on this section of Sovetskaya and Ostrovsky Streets will be closed for the entire period of work. "A set of measures has been worked out with all services, business entities and the population to minimize the occurrence of problems of movement and comfortable living of residents of David-Gorodok and nearby settlements. An optimal temporary scheme of traffic and pedestrians has been developed, which will avoid negative feedback from citizens," the district executive committee added.

In total, 25 bridges are planned to be renewed on local roads in the Brest region over the five-year period.
