The work on the national project "Safe high-quality roads" is carried out taking into account climatic conditions and increases the service life of the highway pavement.
Over 500 kilometers of roads have been repaired in Karelia in three years since the beginning of the implementation of the national project "Safe Quality Roads". More than 50 percent of the work was carried out using new materials and technologies.
Last year, the cold recycling method was used for the first time in the region. The top layer of the road surface is milled, ground and stabilizers and special additives are introduced into the resulting mass. The technology is used on the road section to the Orzega station: when favorable weather conditions occur, specialists will check the road base arranged by the new method, including resistance to the effects of the climate of Karelia.
- Recycling allows you to significantly reduce the repair time, reduce the financial costs of delivering materials and extend the service life of the pavement. If the method proves itself well, we will also repair other roads using this technology," the head of the quality control department of the KU RK "Managtodor of the Republic of Karelia" notes Alexander Gruzdov.
One of the key conditions of the national project is compliance of materials with the latest state standards. Thus, during the repair of roads Zaozerye - Pinguba, Petrozavodsk - Lososinnoye, asphalt concrete type B was replaced with type A, optimal for our region: the amount of crushed stone in the mixture was increased by 10 percent, and the composition of bitumen is designed for large temperature differences.
In 2022, at least 233 km of roads will be repaired in Karelia according to the national BCD project. Specialists will continue monitoring new technologies in cooperation with the FAA "ROSDORNII" and plan to expand their use in the future.
