On April 22, students of the Siberian Automobile and Road Institute were shown the results of the first accelerator of the FAU "ROSDORNIA". In 2020, 100 applications were submitted from 11 cities, most of all from Moscow and Kazan, technoparks and development institutes. In the videoconference mode, the head of the acceleration department of the FAA ROSDORNIA, Yulia Oganova, spoke about the mechanisms for selecting projects, their future fate and plans for 2022.

The accelerator of the road industry is the first stage in building an ecosystem for the development of innovations in the road construction industry, which was launched on the basis of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" in 2020. Such a mechanism, as an open innovation tool, is used in many industries and makes it possible to shorten the launch time of new innovative products, which affects both the development of the industry, the economy, and the technical potential of the enterprise itself, on the basis of which this technology appeared.

In 2020, 100 applications were submitted, but 14 project teams were able to get into the final stage. Speakers at the qualifying round presented such technologies as an intelligent system for preventing accidents at unregulated pedestrian crossings, human error recognition systems based on machine learning, an autonomous computer vision system for traffic flow analysis, and other projects. In 2022, the FAA "ROSDORNII" expects more than 400 teams from different parts of the country to participate.

An important difference of the road accelerator is the industry mentor track and the ability to determine the optimal ways of testing on real objects.  The participants of the acceleration program, who have proven the technological and economic efficiency of technologies, receive not only the support of the industry, but also ample opportunities for development. Proven developments will be included in the Register of New and best Technologies, materials and Technological Solutions for Reuse (RNNT).

"The results of the first accelerator pleasantly surprised us with the level of preparation of teams, projects, and technology presentations, which suggests that such an entry window was necessary for the industry. The teams participating in the accelerator actively worked out technologies with mentors, formed and adjusted roadmaps for testing and implementation of technologies at the facilities of the road industry. Already now with some the finalists are working on the relevant work, the results of which we will see in a year," Yulia Oganova said.

According to the expert, the task is to build an ecosystem of innovations in the road industry, thanks to which ideas and hypotheses will be tested, technologies will be tested, the best technologies and standards will be introduced and used. The development of technologies based on the principle of open innovation will accelerate the emergence of new technological products, which in turn will solve the tasks of the national project.
