The VI interregional scientific and practical conference "Modern technologies of construction, repair and maintenance of artificial structures on highways" opened in Ulyanovsk on June 23, 2021. The forum is organized by the RADOR Association, which unites territorial customers of road works, with the support of the Federal Road Agency. During two days, its participants will discuss the current problems of the industry and exchange experience in solving many applied problems. One of them is the introduction and testing of new effective technologies of road works and ways to effectively scale the experience of applying innovations. On the opening day of the conference, Alexander Kamenskikh, Deputy Director General of the FAA ROSDORNII, made a report on this topic to the participants.

In his report, the representative of the Institute's management informed the audience about an effective tool for introducing innovations in the road sector – the Register of New and Best Technologies, Materials and Technological Solutions for Reuse (RNNT). Taking into account the key topic of the conference, it was about the use of RNNT in the bridge industry.

"Effective the development of the industry is ensured by maximum openness on all issues related to new technologies and the results of their application. Therefore, the Register was created as a publicly accessible resource for all road workers, containing reliable information about effective technologies and materials. Its task is to ensure the rapid transition of proven innovations to the status of the best technologies and materials for reuse," said Alexander Kamenskikh.

RNNT is a publicly available information resource that contains a complete list of data for inclusion in the design and estimate documentation of specific technologies, materials and design solutions. Its use will allow contractors, customers and design organizations to select and implement only those technologies that have proven to be the most effective.

To date, the Register includes more than 360 technologies and 780 new materials, more than 240 structures, and also contains information about more than a thousand road construction sites using these innovations.

The Deputy director of ROSDORNII told the conference participants about the structure, the order of formation and maintenance of the register, its composition in terms of construction and operation of artificial structures. In particular, about the use of modern waterproofing and anticorrosive materials, durable structures of deformation joints, fiber concrete, strong-elastic compositions, thin-layer anti-slip coatings, fiberglass flooring, etc.

In addition, Alexander Kamenskikh shared his experience in using modern methods of geo-radar sounding developed at ROSDORNIA during engineering and geological surveys, surveys of existing highways, during the assessment and exploration of road construction materials reserves in quarries, as well as during construction control. For example, the use of ground-penetrating radars to control the quality of laying layers of coatings and foundations of road structures is a fast, low-cost and effective non-destructive method for assessing the compliance of the results of the work performed with design requirements. Since the beginning of the 2000s, similar georadar surveys have been carried out by the Institute on more than 500 sections of highways throughout Russia.
