The new installation will allow testing simulating multiple impacts of transport wheels on the road surface.
In 2020, a large-scale equipment upgrade is taking place in the stationary laboratories of the FAA ROSDORNIA within the framework of the national project "Safe and High-quality Roads". The new equipment will be used as part of quality monitoring (audit) for testing road construction materials for compliance with the requirements of existing regulatory and technical documents. We talk about new progressive installations and devices in detail.
In the previous article we talked about the roller sealer, with which the sample plates are made for testing at the next installation, which will be discussed. This is an installation for assessing the resistance to the rutting of asphalt concrete by rolling a loaded wheel. It is intended for testing asphalt concrete in accordance with the requirements of PNST 181-2019 "Public roads. Mixtures of asphalt concrete road and asphalt concrete. Method for determining resistance to rutting by rolling a loaded wheel" and ODM 218.3.098-2017 "Guidelines for testing compacted asphalt concrete mixtures by rolling a loaded wheel according to the Hamburg method" with simulation in laboratory conditions of the impact of a car wheel on the pavement of the roadway.
The method for determining the resistance to rutting by rolling a loaded wheel with a rubber tire in an air environment establishes PNST 181-2019. The essence of the method consists in rolling a loaded wheel according to the test sample at a temperature of 60 ° C and determining the depth of the track after 10000 load cycles (20,000 rolling) or after reaching the limit value. The required vertical load value is provided by metal weights placed on the same lever with the hubs of the test wheel. The test simulates the process of formation of a plastic track on the road surface as a result of the impact of the wheels of transport.
Also, tests in an aqueous environment with a controlled temperature can be carried out at the installation in accordance with ODM 218.3.098-2017. In these tests, an all-metal wheel is used. According to the test results, it is possible to assess the influence of the aquatic environment on the stability of asphalt concrete pavement to destruction.
Two samples can be tested simultaneously.
