The productivity of the laboratory will average 400 km per day.

Today, on November 12, at the press event of ROSDORNIA within the framework of the forum "Strong ideas for a new Time" at the Moscow World Trade Center, the presentation of the first universal mobile laboratory of continuous diagnostics of highways in Russia "Eskandor", which was created by order of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" to solve the tasks of the national project "Safe and High-quality Highways", took place. The company "Spetsmash-Diagnostics" will produce innovative equipment at the plant in St. Petersburg.

The first universal mobile laboratory of continuous diagnostics of highways in Russia "Eskandor" is a complex of measuring systems made in the form of a road train.

"Unlike other mobile road laboratories, this specialized machine performs an express assessment of the road surface in a non-stop mode," said the General director of ROSDORNIAAlexey Varyatchenko. – The maximum speed at which surveys can be carried out is up to 80 km/h, that is, the "Escandor" will move at a speed of traffic flow, he will not have to stop and create obstacles on the road. Such a regime will significantly increase the safety of work and the completeness of the data obtained for a comprehensive assessment of the quality of the road surface."

The productivity of the laboratory will average 400 km per day, it will be able to work for up to 20 days without downloading data. To control the "Escandor", only a driver or two replacement drivers are needed – all other data is read automatically. The team of engineers maintains the laboratory only at the stage of pre-trip preparation and at the stage of data unloading.

The "heart" of the innovative laboratory has become a system for measuring the strength of the roadway, which evaluates the amount of elastic precipitation and the shape of the deflection bowl. Also, "Eskandor" is able to measure the longitudinal and transverse evenness of the highway ("track") with an error of no more than 1 mm. The depth and profile of the track will be measured using sensors located at the bottom of the "Escandor". In addition, the coupling properties of the road, defects of the road surface will be evaluated.

"The laboratory is equipped with a georadar – a system of georadolocation sounding "Terrazond", with the help of which it is possible to determine the boundaries of the structural layers of the pavement and its watering, – saysEvgeny Koshel, General Director of "Spetsmash-Diagnostics". – For example, it will be possible to identify weakened areas in road clothes." The spatial scanning system will allow you to create a digital twin of the road infrastructure – its display in the so-called point cloud. The examination is carried out using a mobile laser scanner, which uses LiDAR technology. The dimensions of the geometric elements of the road are determined, which make it possible to form a digital passport of the road infrastructure, build a 3D model and carry out design work, for example, reconstruction, using BIM technologies.

The digital twin of the road infrastructure will be transmitted in real time to the Road Funds Control System (SKDF) – a database of all roads in the Russian Federation and a system of interaction between all its participants: from contractors and operating organizations to citizens who use roads in everyday life. "Based on this information, ROSDORNIA with the use of artificial intelligence technologies will calculate the integral index of the road surface condition. This will allow timely and effective planning of funds for current and major repairs of roads," Alexey Varyatchenko said. Road users represented by citizens will be able to receive real-time information in the SKDF about when and by whom the repair of the road section of interest was carried out and what actions are planned in the near future. And also inform the road owners and local authorities about the problem with the road surface and get an answer to your appeal.

Artificial intelligence technology will be used for the first time in the world and in the work of the most mobile laboratory. Based on the data obtained on the roads already scanned, the Eskandor laboratory will self-study in order to independently assess the quality of the road unfamiliar to it and analyze the nature of defects.

80% of the equipment installed on the "Eskandor" is Russian–made. According to Alexey Varyatchenko, in order to examine all the roads of our country that are suitable for the passage of a road train with a length of 11.5 meters, approximately 5 such car laboratories will be needed: two for the Central Federal District with the largest road network, the rest are for regions. The studies will be repeated on the same track approximately once every 4 years. Since it is possible to effectively explore the road surface only in the snowless season, the first job for "Eskandor" will appear this spring in the Southern Federal District, where warm days come first.

FAA "ROSDORNII" is an organization for the development and scientific support of federal target and regional programs of the Russian Federation aimed at innovative development and improvement of the condition of highways, implementation of fundamental, exploratory and applied R&D, development of industry regulatory and technical documents, design and diagnostics of roads and artificial structures, as well as the development of information technologies in the road sector and the introduction of advanced technologies, equipment and materials into the practice of design and construction. In 2019, the institution was modernized for the most effective implementation of the national project "Safe and high-quality Highways". Now it is one of the key coordination centers of the country, which is engaged in monitoring the progress of execution of the national project.
