Experts of the Vladimir branch of the FAA "ROSDORNIA" checked road works in seven regions

In three months, the Institute's specialists conducted an audit of 26 facilities

In the third quarter of 2020, employees of the Vladimir branch of the Russian Road Research Institute conducted an audit in seven areas: Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Tver, Arkhangelsk, Ivanovo and Novgorod. Based on the results of the audit, conclusions and recommendations were issued to eliminate shortcomings. In October-November, field inspections in these regions will continue.

Research and measurements on the ground were carried out by experts with the help of a mobile automotive laboratory created at the Institute. The technologies of road construction works, the quality of raw materials and finished asphalt concrete coatings, geometric indicators of the carriageway, the quality of the arranged curbs and sidewalks and other measures to assess the quality of the road works performed were checked. During the audit, samples of the road surface were selected at each facility for subsequent laboratory studies.

During the inspections, close attention was paid to the use of innovations and modern materials. Thus, it was found that at most facilities, road repairs are carried out using crushed-mastic asphalt concrete (SHMA) of various compositions. This type of coating has a rigid frame structure, which ensures the transfer of load from the surface to the underlying layers through individual particles of stone material directly in contact with each other. In addition, the SCHMA coating provides increased roughness for better adhesion of the tires of passing vehicles with the road surface, which reduces the accident rate.

When repairing the roadway on the highwaySobinka – Krutoyak – Berezniki in the Vladimir region, a bitumen-polymer docking tape was used at the joints during the cold longitudinal coupling of adjacent coating strips. Being laid on the edge of a previously arranged pavement strip, it melts when laying hot asphalt concrete mixture and fills the voids of the technological joint. This improves the adhesion of the mating strips of the pavement, creates additional waterproofing of the seam and prevents its destruction in the process maintenance of the road, increasing the duration of repair intervals.

In total, a visiting team of ROSDORNIA specialists conducted an audit of 26 sections of road works. In particular, in the Vladimir region, in addition to the above-mentioned section of the highwaySobinka – Krutoyak – Berezniki experts checked the progress of the repair of the coating on the highwaysVelikodvorsky – Badgers andVladimir – Smybyshevo – Konyaevo, as well as the carriageway of the streetUst-na-Lab in the capital of the region.

In the Kostroma region, an inspection was carried out on sections of highwaysKostroma –Krasnoe-on-Volga andSudislavl – Galich – Chukhloma, as well as on the streetsThe main line in Kostroma andKostroma in Sudislavl.

In the Yaroslavl region, an inspection of repair work was carried out on three regional highways:Gavrilov Yam – Pruzhinino,Yaroslavl – We love andDanilov – Poshekhonye.

In the Tver region in places the auditors' stops were the repair sites on the highwaysKrasnomaysky – Firovo andOstashkov – Selizharovo – Rzhev. Actually, in Tver, they checked the progress of work on the street 15 years of October and onSakharov highway.

In the Arkhangelsk region, ROSDORNIA specialists checked the quality of the updated road surface on highwaysUst-Vaga – Yadrikha andDolmatovo – Nyandoma – Kargopol – Pudozh, as well as on the streetsVychegodskaya in Arkhangelsk andSouth in Severodvinsk.

The center of attention of experts in the Ivanovo region became the repaired sections of roadsIvanovo – Yaroslavl,Rostov – Ivanovo – Nizhny Novgorod in the Teikovsky district andLezhnevo – Khoznikovo – Shuya in Lezhnevsky and Shuisky, as well as streetsOkulovoy in the capital of the region.

In the Novgorod region, a mobile laboratory made stops on the roadOkulovka – Lyubytino and on the streetsWorking andGlorious in Veliky Novgorod.

As noted in ROSDORNIA, many contractors are working ahead of schedule. With the exception of certain shortcomings, for the correction of which appropriate recommendations were issued, the quality of work on most sites meets regulatory requirements.
