Managers and specialists of the Department for Development of Intelligent Transport Systems and Design and the Department for International Ties of ROSDORNII took part in the Expert Group Meeting on developing a Regional Roadmap for further cooperation in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) integration.
The event was organized by the secretariat of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The business program included reports on existing strategies of introducing ITS, promising areas of regional cooperation on their implementation and the priorities of the ESCAP member-countries in the field.
The Russia’s view was represented by Vladimir Kryuchkov’s paper. The expert told about the specifics of the ITS policy implementation in the Russian Federation given the reality of contemporary times.
The conference participants underscored the benefits of ITS deployment as a key factor in reducing road accidents, road congestion and resolving environmental issues. The main agenda of the meeting was aimed at harmonizing the standards and the scope of ITS technology implementation in Asian and Pacific countries.
The ESCAP countries are eager to develop and implement the first regional roadmap comprising a set of strategies and policies for the deployment of ITS in Asia and the Pacific.
ROSDORNII’s representatives paid special attention to the report of Mr. Ki-Joon Kim, International Consultant, UNESCAP Transport Division, who told about successful fulfillment of ITS projects in the region. Igor Evstigneev, Deputy Director of the Department for Development of Intelligent Transport Systems and Design, highlighted the importance meteorological data integration into ITS technologies and outlined plans for further international cooperation in this filed.
