The project of a new transport system for the metrobus in Voronezh is already ready and is being approved by the regional authorities. Vladimir Pashchenko, head of the Transport Planning Department of RosdorNIA, told about this in the program "Conduct an Interview".
The first metrobus line should appear in Voronezh in 2026. The new transport will consist of buses and trolleybuses moving along special lanes of roads.
– Metrobus allows you to get closer to metro speeds. This will happen not due to the acceleration of transport, but due to the fact that buses and trolleybuses will not slow down at intersections, let other motorists pass and stand in traffic jams, – said the designer.
Most of the highlights will be on the left. However, on some sections of roads, for example, from the Chernavsky Bridge to the ascent to Manezhnaya, the developers suggest leaving the highlights on the right.
There will also be boarding platforms with refuges, fences, waiting pavilions and a scoreboard with the arrival time of buses and trolleybuses in the city. Who will serve the future transport – private companies or a municipal carrier – depends on the decision of the authorities, the expert noted.
– The motivation of carriers in Voronezh is organized incorrectly. Their profitability directly depends on the number of passengers transported. Buses leave the common lane to overtake each other. The city should put the work in such a way that the carrier is motivated to comply with the schedule," the expert said.
Before the city begins to build infrastructure for new transport, the project will be evaluated by the regional Duma. Voronezh residents will decide the final fate of the metrobus at public hearings.
