The wheel load simulator (SCN) "CYCLOS" is included in the State Register of Measuring Instruments. The decision on the introduction was approved by Order No. 774 of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) dated March 25, 2022.
"The measuring system IS-SKN-01 of the CYCLOS cyclic installation is a two—channel measuring device based on measuring instruments and a computer with special software," the description of the type of measuring instrument says. The SCN "CYCLOS" is designed "to measure the depth of the transverse profile and the surface temperature of the pavement section".
Earlier, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) issued ROSDORNIA a certificate of registration of the Trademark (service mark) of the CYCLOS wheel load simulator No. 855458. It was registered in the State Register of Trademarks and Service Marks of the Russian Federation on March 15, 2022 and will be valid until August 23, 2031.
Background information
The CYCLOS wheel load Simulator is Russia's first installation for accelerated testing of road structures, developed as part of the implementation of the national project "Safe High—Quality Roads" commissioned by ROSDORNIA. Thanks to the innovative development of the Institute, it is possible in a few months to simulate the full-fledged conditions of operation of the highway during the life cycle in the conditions of interest and to give a conclusion about the operability of the new road structure.
SCN "CYCLOS" is designed to conduct accelerated tests of road structures and allows you to simulate the operation of the road during the estimated service life of the pavement in just a few months, embodying one of the most promising directions in road science, which allows you to link the laboratory evaluation of materials with their behavior in real conditions.
