ROSDORNII presented his vision of the development of passenger transport in Voronezh. The Institute's experts proposed to introduce metrobuses into the city's route network – high-speed buses or trolleybuses running along specially designated lanes.
The experts voiced their position at a meeting with the Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev. The discussion was also attended by representatives of the Voronezh City Administration, the Government of the Voronezh Region and the project office for public Transport of the State Development Corporation "VEB.RF".
– A metrobus is a bus or trolleybus that operates in a corridor separated from outside transport within the agglomeration's street and road network, - said Vladimir Pashchenko, head of the Transport planning Department of ROSDORNIA, at the meeting. – Due to the highly efficient organization of traffic, convenient stopping points and the clock schedule, the metrobus is able to provide high speed, ease of use for passengers and at the same time show high economic efficiency as the main transport of large cities.
Governor The Voronezh region noted the relevance of the issue under discussion.
– The topic of public transport development is important now – public transport remains one of the main problems, – Gusev said. – I would like to make a promising decision that would allow us to properly allocate tasks and, accordingly, resources for these tasks, – said the governor.
