On March 31, a meeting within the framework of the working group of the Russian-Chinese Committee of Projects on important strategic cooperation in the field of Satellite Navigation of the Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of the heads of government of Russia and China was held at the ROSDORNIA site in the format of a videoconference.
The event was dedicated to the implementation of joint applied projects in the field of autonomous driving and cross-border transportation based on GLONASS and Beidou navigation systems.
The Russian side was headed by Vladimir Klimov, Executive Director of the GLONASS/GNSS Forum Association and Co-head of the 4th Group of the RF-PRC Projects Committee, as well as Alexander Boreyko, General Director of Intelligent Transport Technologies LLC.
Maxim Ivanov, Deputy Head of the Department for the Formation of the national network of intelligent transport systems, took part in the meeting from ROSDORNIA, and Alexander Nesvetailov, a leading specialist of the Department for International Relations, provided two-way translation.
The Chinese side was represented by the heads of the NORINCO Northern Research Institute of Electronics and the Telecommunications and Communications Center of the Ministry of Transport of China.
Experts discussed the need to develop Russian-Chinese cooperation in the application of global navigation satellite systems GLONASS and Beidou and the development of new innovative technologies based on them, including autonomous vehicle control technologies. The Russian side noted the importance of applying the experience of managing "drones" accumulated in related industries, including the creation of aviation systems.
The participants of the meeting paid considerable attention to the introduction of digital technologies in the implementation of the transportation process, both between the participants of transportation and with transport infrastructure facilities. At the same time, the importance of harmonization of national standards and data exchange protocols, including within the framework of the introduction of ITS elements, was emphasized.
Following the meeting, the participants agreed on cooperation plans for the period up to 2025, including projects for joint testing of autonomous driving and the development of cross-border transportation between Russia and China, and also formulated an annual work plan for the current year.
The videoconference was held within the framework of the agreement concluded in February 2022 between ROSDORNII and the GLONASS Association/GNSS – Forum" Agreements on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of research and testing of high-precision positioning technologies in intelligent transport systems. This agreement concerns the provision of safe movement of highly automated and unmanned vehicles in the implementation of road transport in the interests of the development of internal and transit transport and logistics corridors on the territory of the Russian Federation, including the Russian-Chinese project on the use of high-precision positioning for autopilot vehicles, the international transport corridor on the direction of the Primorye-2 MTC.
