Mr. Artur Romanenko, Deputy General Director of ROSDORNII, welcomed his colleagues from South Africa noting the importance of international cooperation in science-intensive areas, and introduced Professor Wynand Steyn, the University of Pretoria, to the structure and activities of ROSDORNII.
The meeting was devoted to sharing experience in the application of accelerated pavement testing (APT) methods. Serghey Mironchuk, Deputy Head of ROSDORNII relevant department informed the participants about the development and pilot trials of CYCLOS, the first Russian wheel load simulator, whereas Mr. Wynand Steyn, UP HOD, shared the extensive experience of employing this technology in RSA and informed about the R&D achievements in the road sector demonstrating photos of the laboratories and test sites. In addition, the researcher told about the projects implemented in the Republic of South Africa with the participation of students and professors.
At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to continue the exchange of experience and identification of best practices in terms of application of the latest technologies in road construction on a regular basis.
