China is using road construction to invade Nepalese soil.

Road construction news, 24.06.2020

China uses road construction in Tibet to invade Nepalese lands, and in the future may establish border outposts in these areas, according to the report of the Government of Nepal.

The report, prepared by the Department of Research of the Ministry of Agriculture, provides a list of 11 places, of which China has encroached on 10 places, amounting to about 33 hectares of Nepalese land, by diverting the flow of rivers that act as a natural border.

The Chinese government is widely expanding its road network in the so-called Tibet Autonomous Region, which is why some rivers and their tributaries have changed their course and flow towards Nepal. The flow of rivers is gradually retreating from Nepalese territories, and if it continues to remain so for some time, it will cede the maximum part of Nepalese lands.

A total of 10 hectares of land were seized in the Humla area, as Chinese construction work diverted the Bagdare Khola River and the Karnali River. Six hectares of Nepalese land were seized in the Rasuwa area, as construction work in Tibet led to diversions in Sinjen, Bhurjuk and Jambu Khol.

Similarly, a total of 11 hectares of Nepalese land China has already declared for a "fall in Tibet" with the withdrawal of Harane Khola and Bhote Kosi in the Sindhupalchowk area. Chinese road construction in Tibet also diverted the flow of the Sumjung, Kam Khola and Arun rivers of the Sankhuwasabha district, which led to the invasion of nine hectares of Nepalese land. The document warns that Nepal will lose even more land if proper measures are not taken in time.

"If the retreat of land by rivers continues, then hundreds of hectares naturally go towards China. There is a high probability that within a certain period of time China may establish a border observation post of its armed police in these territories," the document says.

After researching in the 1960s and erecting pillars to define the border with China, Nepal has not taken any further steps to secure its border. A total of 100 pillars were erected on the northern side of the border with China alone. While in India the number of columns is 8553.

Recently, the world has witnessed the escalation of China's territorial aggression on both sides of its border.

His The actions led to a fierce confrontation with India in the Ladakh region. He had skirmishes with Vietnam and Malaysia in the South China Sea, pressure on Taiwan with night exercises in the Taiwan Strait and the threat to Australia in the export of wine, beef, barley.

Beijing has also introduced a new law, the Hong Kong Security Act, to strengthen its control over the semi-autonomous city, despite strong protests.

Construction season begins

Richard Frost (South Peace News), 06/25/2020

Work has begun to improve the interchange of Highway 2A on Highway 747, located about 20 km west of High Prairie. The roads at the interchange will be widened to make it easier for trucks and other long vehicles to turn.

"This is the season for highway construction in the High Prairie region and other parts of the country. Work crews are employed at several project sites planned both in Big Lakes County and to the west in the Smoky River MD.

Projects in the Big Lakes region include work on:

-Laying 11.5 km of highway in the Kinuso area between the west of Highway 33 and the east of Highway 33.

-Laying Spruce Street in Faust and Range Road 101A in Kinuso.

- Placement of various sections on Highway 749 from the south from Township Road 740 to High Prairie.

Projects in the Smoky River area:

-Improving the intersection of Highway 2A and Highway 747.

- Laying 27.5 km of Highway 2A between Highway 49 and Highway 2.

-Detour on Highway 49 for about 3.5 km between Highway 2A and the south of the Little Smoky River.

The construction is scheduled to be completed by October. Crews are also repairing slides on Highway 2A and Highway 747. Grooves are also being replaced in both municipalities. Alberta Transportation has signed a contract with E Construction for the projects.

The upgrade on Highway 2 near Kinuso was announced by the government in a press release on May 6. Motorists are advised to drive safely in construction areas. Slow traffic and delays are expected.

Dublin city traffic has returned to 75% pre-pandemic levels

Olivia Kelly (Dublin Editor), 06/25/2020

According to new data from Dublin City Council, traffic volumes in the City of Dublin have reached 75 percent of the level before the start of self-isolation.

The number of vehicles entering and leaving the city during the morning and evening rush hours began to decline rapidly from the first week of March, reaching a low at the end of the month, when strict travel restrictions were imposed due to the pandemic.

At a time when travel was restricted, except for significant reasons, and most businesses were closed, travel volumes fell to just over a third of their normal levels.

However, despite the absence of changes in restrictions over the next month, in early May, the volume of traffic decreased to more than 40 percent of the normal level.

Since then, the peak load has steadily increased as travel and business travel restrictions have eased, with the biggest jump seen from the beginning to the middle of this month, when most downtown stores opened.

At the end of the first week of June, traffic volume was about 60 percent of its pandemic volume, and by June 21 it had reached 75 percent.

The most important bridge on the border with China collapsed in Uttarakhand

VIKRAM SHARMA, 23.06.2020

The most important valley bridge leading to the border with China in the Pitoragarh district in Uttarakhand, which was the only supply line for the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), collapsed due to the heavy weight of the truck. The earthmoving engine was to be used in ongoing road construction work up to the border with China in the Dzhokhar Mountain Valley in the district. Two people, including the truck driver, were seriously injured and the area remains cut off from the rest of the state at this time.

Eyewitnesses reported by phone to Deccan Chronicle that it was about 9 a.m. when a heavy-duty truck crossed a rickety valley bridge near Munsiyari village on the Dhapa-Milam road. The truck crossed more than half of the bridge and when it reached the other end, it suddenly crashed and the truck with heavy machinery fell into the gorge. Local residents rushed to rescue two people who were seriously injured and then were taken to the nearest hospital. The bridge is only 65 km from the border.

"The bridge is about 25 years old, and it was built by GREF (General Engineer Engineer Force). If it is not quickly restored, almost 7,000 villagers, Indian army personnel will be completely cut off, as this is the only way to the border with China," Laxman Pantei from Munsiyari said in an interview for Deccan Chronicle.

Another eyewitness, Vicky Rawat, said there were fears that the bridge could collapse in any time. "Even the truck driver was skeptical about whether the bridge would withstand the weight. But he tried to cross it anyway," Rawat said. It became known that the applicant belongs to ABCI Infrastructure Limited, a company engaged in road construction works.

The Organization of Border Roads (BRO) has intensified work on the construction of a road to the last post on the Indian-Chinese border in the Dzhokhar Valley, despite the fact that the confrontation on the line of actual control continued. Recently, helicopters landed heavy road construction equipment in hard-to-reach areas of the Dzhokhar Valley for the construction of the strategic Munsiyari-Bugdiyar-Milam road. BRO faces a serious challenge as he tries to break through the hard rocks that are about 20 km away from the road leading to the border.

Recently, the border area has witnessed restless activity, as more and more soldiers were sent along with other logistical means. The district official said that since the route is the key to the border, the restoration of the bridge will begin immediately.
