Uzbekistan is building a bridge that will reduce the delivery time of goods from Kazakhstan and Russia
https://kun.uz/ 29.05.2021
The total length of the new combined (railway and automobile) bridge is 413 meters, height 11.25 meters, width 8.5 meters.
Recall that in August 2019, during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Karakalpakstan The proposal for the construction of a new bridge and railway "Shavat-Gurlen - Jumurtau-Kipchak" submitted by the Jokargy Kenes and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Khokimiyat of Khorezm region and the Ministry of Transport was approved.
According to the Uzbekistan Temir Yullari company, experts have calculated that the construction of a new bridge will reduce the distance of transportation of goods coming from Russia and Kazakhstan by 240 km, and the time by 6 hours.
"The combined bridge under construction is of great importance in the development of the region, both Khorezm and Karakalpakstan. The distance and mileage of trains going north will be reduced. The bridge is also of great importance for the population of the region. It connects the left bank of the Amudarya district and the territory of Karakalpakstan. Industry will develop on the left bank of the Amu Darya," said Rustam Ruziev, General Director of Boshtransloiha JSC.
Thus, the volume of cargo transportation will increase by 2 times and reach 25 million tons per year. The economic effect of 100 billion soums per year will increase with the development of the above-mentioned regions of Uzbekistan.
Besides, The costs of delivering inert materials to the Khorezm region from the Republic of Karakalpakstan will be reduced, which will reduce the cost of construction of social facilities and infrastructure.
"The combined bridge will consist of 6 metal spans, thanks to which it is resistant to crossings of railway trains and motor vehicles. The highway will consist of two lanes, and in order to ensure the safety of movement of the local population, special pedestrian passageways will be set aside on both sides," the company noted.
