In Georgia, work is underway on the construction (in a two-way direction) of the Kvesheti-Kobi highway, which will bypass the avalanche-prone Gudauri-Kobi section on the Georgian military highway connecting Georgia and Russia.
We are talking about the Kvesheti-Kobi bypass road of the most difficult and dangerous section of the Kobi–Gudauri highway Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars. The project provides for the construction of a road with a length of 22.7 kilometers, as well as 6 bridges and 5 tunnels, including a nine-kilometer tunnel under the Cross Pass. It will be one of the longest tunnels and one of the most complex engineering structures in Europe.
According to experts, the project will ensure the safety and continuity of traffic, given that the path to Lars is periodically blocked due to bad weather.

The Center–South project has already been half implemented, it is promised to be fully completed by 2023. But whether they will have time, and at what stage of work now, the correspondent of "Khabar 24" found out. The quality of the highway between Nur-Sultan and Almaty is an issue that has been relevant since the beginning of 2000. Periodically the highway is overhauled repaired.
Not without complaints and criticism, in 2017 they started talking about its complete reconstruction. Only in fact, the project was thoroughly taken up only in 2019. The transport artery was divided into several sections. The Nur-Sultan-Karaganda and Kapshagai-Almaty sections were put into operation almost immediately, and the northern and eastern bypasses of Karaganda were successfully completed.
