Construction of a road to the border of Georgia with Azerbaijan begins
Spitnik Georgia, 14.12.2021
As part of the new expressway project in Kakheti, agreements have been signed on the construction of the first and second sections of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo section, the Department of Highways of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia reports.
The Tbilisi-Sagarejo section is part of the main highway connecting Tbilisi and Kakheti, as well as the transit corridor connecting Georgia with the northwestern region of Azerbaijan. On this section, the intensity of traffic flows increases significantly, and the existing road passes through such densely populated villages and towns as Vaziani, Sartichala, Ninotsminda and Sagarejo.
According to the Department of Highways, a four-lane asphalt concrete road with a length of 31.5 kilometers will be built on the Tbilisi-Sagarejo section.
The construction of the highway will be financed from the state budget. Road design works were carried out highly qualified Australian and American companies with financial support from the World Bank.
Construction work on this section of the road will be carried out by two companies that won the tender (for different lots). It is expected to complete the work in 2-2.5 years.
According to the department, based on the engineering and financial analysis conducted by the Department of Highways, the construction of the road was divided into lots in such a way that, together with ensuring high competition, local companies had the opportunity to participate in the tender independently. As a result, one of the three sites will be built by a Georgian company.
The construction of a new road will significantly increase traffic safety and significantly reduce travel time, the department notes. According to the Department of Highways, the project will support the development of agriculture and tourism in the Kakheti region and increase the competitiveness of transit corridors through Georgia.

Many experts say that in the modern world it is becoming increasingly difficult to predict the digital future. It would seem that only five years ago people were talking about artificial intelligence and "smart" cities as plans for the future, but today it is no longer new, but an everyday reality. And this high-tech express is moving at an accelerating speed.
When we talk about the development of information and communication technologies, it is important to remember two key points: this is an infrastructure based on advanced equipment with high-quality software, as well as training.
In Uzbekistan, one of these areas successfully covers the IT Park, where young talents are being trained. There will be no shortage of professional IT specialists in the country in the near future.
A special place among all Huawei projects in Uzbekistan is occupied by the complex of works within the framework of the launch of the "Safe City" system. The discussion on the implementation of this project began about three years ago. The company is constantly in touch with The implementers of this initiative are the Safe City Center and the Uztelecom telecom operator. Within the framework of joint efforts, a pilot project has already been implemented at Charvak.
The main goal is to improve the quality of life of citizens by increasing the overall level of safety of the population and the environment, reducing socio–economic damage from accidents, as well as crisis and emergency situations.
Currently, this initiative remains in the focus of the Uzbek authorities, but there are issues on which an agreement should be reached by all partners, so contacts and negotiations continue. From the point of view of technology, there are no obstacles to creating a system, the concept itself has already proven itself well in various countries.
It is important to understand that the project to create a safe city cannot be viewed from a position of financial gain. It is socially significant, the result of its implementation will be ensuring the basic needs of society in a safe and comfortable life, it is a contribution to the provision of values for the population.
