Cement concrete roads will last 20 years longer
J Cement, 06.05.2022
JSC "Bekabadcement" has launched the production of cement for road construction. In the last few years, work has been carried out in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the development of highways. Until recently, a significant part of domestic road surfaces did not meet modern requirements, and today many resources are directed to the restoration of the industry.
The popularity of cement concrete roads is growing all over the world today. Many countries, such as Spain, Germany, China, the USA, are actively developing the construction of roads with a hard surface. Now the countries of Central Asia prefer cement-concrete roads more. The climate of the Republic of Uzbekistan is ideal for the use of concrete roads and today projects for the construction of highways from cement-concrete materials have been launched in the country.
In order to ensure the road construction industry of Uzbekistan, Bekabadcement JSC (part of the United Cement Group holding) announced the launch of production of a new type of products designed specifically for the construction of hard-surfaced roads. United Cement Group is the first company in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan to launch a brand of road cement.
In the post-Soviet space, many people have prejudices about cement-concrete roads, because uneven "concrete blocks", plates fastened with seams arise in their heads. Today, concrete roads mean an absolutely flat monolithic roadbed. Professional communities have developed modern technologies for the construction of cement concrete roads. The processes of laying, compacting, finishing concrete have been debugged, there are concrete pavers with sliding forms that are able to prepare a perfectly smooth road in one pass. Cement concrete roads have significant advantages over asphalt concrete:
Mechanical properties
Roads covered with cement concrete pavement serve an average of 25-30 years, while the service life of asphalt concrete is only 8-12 years. Rigid road clothing has high strength and load-bearing capacity.
The rigidity of concrete roads helps to avoid ruts and undulations, as happens with asphalt. In addition, the cement concrete coating significantly reduces the possibility of deflection of the pavement, which significantly saves fuel for vehicles.
Due to the fact that the cement concrete coating tolerates temperature changes much better than asphalt concrete, it is possible to pass heavy vehicles year-round without restrictions. Cement concrete material will not soften under the scorching sun, but it will not crumble on frosty nights.
Among the advantages of such road clothing, it is also possible to highlight safety for the environment. Cement, the main ingredient of concrete roads, is made from limestone and clay, it does not contain petroleum products. In addition, the cement concrete web is recyclable.
There is an opinion that cement concrete coating is several times more expensive than asphalt concrete. In fact, when calculating discounted costs, today the cost of concrete roads is 25-30% lower than asphalt roads. The choice of the type of pavement is based primarily on economic calculations, which include: the cost of raw materials and the laying process, as well as repair and maintenance costs. Despite the fact that asphalt materials are cheaper, cement-concrete road clothes will last many times longer and will require minimal maintenance and repair costs.
Roads built with the use of Portland Cement CEMI 42.5N DP JSC "Bekabadcement" will last for many years without additional repairs for the benefit of motorists. The products are confirmed by the certificate of conformity No.UZ.SMT.01.0027.76996063 dated April 14, 2022.
United Cement Group (UCG) is the largest cement holding in Central Asia. At the moment, the total production capacity of UCG is 7.6 million tons and includes enterprises in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The holding specializes in the production of general construction and special grades of cement of the highest quality.
