  • Abstract: Based on the analysis of the effect of design axial loads on roads with non-rigid pavements, it was revealed that the main problem is overloading of a vehicle, both heavy and light. In the absence of overload, the axial loads on the road do not exceed the normalized values. In this case, the most objective characteristic is the specific pressure on road pavement. It is emphasized that the pavement layer thickness and the whole pavement thickness (with the same road-building materials) differ in the groups of design loads based on the ratios of wheel track design diameters, as well as for the design load of 130 kN an individual approach to pavement design is required.

  • Abstract: This article deals with the study, which is a logical continuation of researches on quality control of performed construction works in regard to road pavements layers and underlying soils compaction. The modulus of elasticity of soils is taken as the controlled parameter. An optimized approach to performing quality control of soils compaction during construction by comparing the design estimates of total elastic moduli values with those actually measured at the construction site is suggested. The nomographs for determination of theoretical (design) values of total modulus of elasticity are first proposed. These nomographs are adjusted to use in conjunction with small-sized equipment for dynamic loading, by which actual values of total moduli of elasticity are determined. Two different cases: new construction and reconstruction reflected in the constructed nomographs are reviewed. The recommendations and clarifications concerning the technique application, as well as the limits to its applicability, and practicable methods for eliminating identified inconsistencies when constructing are also given. The key directions of further researches are determined.

  • Abstract: The basis of transport communication and mobility of people is made by interaction of the pedestrian streams and the traffic flows in the transport and town-planning system, in particular, its elements – bridge head road transport junctions. The importance of effective changes between different types of public transport is defined by the European Commission documents «Towards a new culture for urban mobility» (2007) and «Action Plan on Urban Mobility» (2009). According these recommendations ideal trips are «seamless», in which passengers don't spend almost time for changes between different types of transport. This ideology is implemented, in particular, in the multimodal (or intermodal) transport hubs, which are the part of the bridge head road transport junctions.

The experimental quantitative evaluation of destruction and self-healing processes is given. The processes developing in the cement stone at the micro-structure level are described. The destruction degree of the concrete with the additive of MB-30C, when frost action developing in comparison with the conventional, is smaller, and the degree of self-healing, however, is higher than for conventional concrete, which is associated with the intensity of the residual clinker hydration fund. Revealed trends indicate that the performance properties of concrete with organo-mineral modifier MB-30C remain unchanged significantly longer than for conventional concrete.
