  • Abstract: The issues of secondary material resources use when road constructing and repairing are reviewed. Data concerning domestic and foreign experience in usage of arising and residential solid waste in road sector are given. The energy requirements for producing basic road construction materials and asphalt concrete pavements constructing are done. Legislative aspects of stimulation of effective usage of secondary material resources are regarded.

  • Abstract: The main causes of reducing lifetime of road pavements are revealed. The work of road structures under current transport and climate loads is analyzed. The results of experience of using innovative technologies and materials in road construction in Kazakhstan according to the research results carried out in KazNIiPI «Dortrans» NIOKR Institute are given. To increase road lifetime the using of high-technology rolled cinder concretes, sludge concretes and ash concretes, performance of which is held out for high-strength cement concretes, is recommended.

ROAD ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ON THE EXAMPLE OF ROADS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN)

  • Abstract: The article presents the review of existing road asset management systems with the conclusions about complexities of their practical implementation. A road asset management system elaborated for developing countries, particularly for Republic of Tajikistan, is considered. The system consists of three moduli: electronic roadmap, automated road data bank, repair planning subsystem. The created system with developed model of operational chain allows to decide the issues of road repair works planning on the road network of assign region with limited resources and to substantiate strategy of repair for the future up to 3 year in various financing scenarios. The system is realized on an example of roads of Sogdian region of Tajikistan with plotting diagrams of road condition change in time depending on repair work volumes in given financing options. Extended suggestions for elaboration of roadmap for system implementation are done.

  • Abstract: When compacting all road construction materials the process efficiency considerably depends on correct selection of road roller as by weight, design features and modes work assignment and, primarily, speed range, determining the required passes number in the same track. Some recommendations on road rollers selection are summarized. These recommendations are given in the form of nomograms and are obtained as a result of data compilation for a large number of commercially available rollers of different mass. While it is possible to select their work modes, in particular, rational rolling speeds.

  • Abstract: Asphalt concrete containing shungite mineral powder is a relatively new material and its properties are poorly known. The researches on cyclic fatigue of this asphalt concrete under constant amplitude of deformations in laboratory conditions are carried out by the authors. Based on the received results the comparative service life of asphalt concrete pavements is estimated. It is found that predicted service life of asphalt concrete on shungite mineral powder is 2-3 years higher, than asphalt concrete on lime mineral powder.

  • Abstract: For protecting open soil against erosion processes biomates of different designs are increasingly used. Needle-punched and yarn-sewn biomats are the most commonly applied. The main difference between biomats and other similar constructions is to use only biodegradable materials. The comparison of biomats produced by various methods for different purposes (reclamation, sodding road shoulders and slopes, various types of landscaping etc.) is done.

  • Abstract: The method of ice-free water pass when underground watercourse freezing near road structures is reviewed. The mathematical model of the thermal processes in drainage systems filled with granulated foam glass is presented. Thermotechnical calculations of drainage systems in different climatic conditions are carried out. The assessment of drainage system capability to pass water depending on winter design temperatures is given.

  • Abstract: When winter road maintenance carrying out special attention of road agencies is needed with regard to technological characteristics of deicing agents usage, taking into account not only melting capacity of applying materials, but also their thermal and physical characteristics. The article dwells upon mathematical model of heat transfer from point heat source based on the example of calcium chloride and sodium chloride work. Mathematical model validity is proved by field experiments.

  • Abstract: A generalized classification and an algorithm for modeling road pavement condition during winter are proposed. The modeling results of road pavement condition are presented. The temperature regime during the period of slipperiness formation and when working for its elimination is studied. Regularities of minimum temperature distribution for glassy ice and packed snow are revealed, and the probabilities for slipperiness formation in various temperature ranges are calculated.

  • Abstract: The possibility of obtaining an universal road filler (UZD) for its application in repair works on the street-road network is revealed in this paper. The use of UZD in place of or in addition to asphalt concrete or cement concrete pavements allows to increase the service life of road section in several times, that leads to a significant reduction in the costs of road maintenance and repair. The obtained UZD with improved characteristics with respect to asphalt concrete (resistance to abrasion from 1,5 to 2,5 times, water saturation to 1%) is concerned.

  • Abstract: This article concerns the influence of freeze-thaw cycling and subsequent rest on elastic modulus changes of asphalt concrete. It is shown the dependence of frost resistance coefficient from test time-temperature conditions. It is revealed an effect of modulus partial return to the initial value. It is suggested the use of linear viscoelastic straining as a nondestructive method for determining frost resistance of asphalt concrete.
